EFLA has achieved an international certification under the ISO 27001 standard, confirming that the company meets the strictest requirements for information security. The certification is a significant milestone for EFLA’s staff, as the entire workforce contributed to the project.
Data protection
“In times when data security and trust in information technology have never been more important, a certification like this is highly significant. With this, EFLA demonstrates that we protect the data of clients, partners, and employees systematically,” says Jónína Björk Vilhjálmsdóttir, Director of Development at EFLA.
“With this certification, EFLA is at the forefront among Icelandic engineering firms in information security. The certification confirms our strong emphasis on confidentiality and security in all our projects,” Jónína Björk adds.
With the ISO 27001 certification, EFLA strengthens its position as a trusted partner and a leading force in professional and secure services. “Information security is no longer optional—it’s a necessity. With increasing cyber threats, the growing use of cloud solutions, and increasingly complex regulations, companies must demonstrate responsibility and security in data handling. That’s exactly what we’re doing,” says Jón Heiðar Sveinsson, IT team lead at EFLA.
Collaboration across teams
ISO 27001 is an international standard that defines requirements for information security management systems (ISMS). The certification indicates that the company has assessed risks, implemented appropriate security measures, and maintains a commitment to continuous improvement in handling sensitive data. “The certification is the result of extensive collaboration within EFLA, where staff across departments and teams participated to achieve the goal,” says Jónína Björk.
Following the certification, EFLA will continue to develop procedures and training for staff, with a focus on continuous improvement and awareness of security issues in daily operations.
