13.6.2023 : EFLA´s biggest contract in Sweden to date

EFLA's activities in Sweden have grown significantly in recent years, and now the company has landed its biggest contract so far. The project concerns energy transmission, i.e. the design of a new 400 kV transmission line that is approximately 90 km long and connects the cities of Hallsberg and Timmersdal. Read more

EFLA supervised a project in shore power connection systems for container vessels for Eimskip in Iceland, which was taken into use yesterday at Sundahöfn harbour in Reykjavik. The Norwegian company Blueday Technology AS was chosen to design and handle the construction of the equipment.

The projects are partly funded by EEA and Norway Grants, EEA Grants. 23.6.2022 : EFLA acquires a majority stake in HECLA SAS

EFLA Consulting has acquired a majority stake in HECLA SAS, a French engineering company based in Paris, after the completion of EFLA ‘s acquisition of Landsvirkjun´s holdings, through its subsidiary Landsvirkjun Power, and Jean Chauveau. EFLA now holds a 96.5% share of HECLA SAS, with two key executives holding 3.5%.

11.8.2021 : Underground cables that withstand lava flow

EFLA works in the eruption site at Reykjanesskagi.

An interesting experiment is being carried out at the volcanic eruption sites in Fagradalsfjall to determine how much burden the underground cables can withstand from the lava flow. Hopefully, the findings will be informative for other similar and challenging situations.

EFLA‘s photogrammetry and drone specialists were recently on location at the volcanic eruption on the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland. The purpose of the trip was to fly a drone over the area and capture images that would then be turned into a 3-D model of the area.

Statnett powerlines (Norway) are generally constructed in extremely difficult, mountainous terrain exposed to high wind and ice loads. The lack of accessibility to most tower locations requires all equipment, materials and personnel to be flown to the construction site. Reducing the flying time or number of trips has a huge impact on the environment and cost. These constraints and impacts triggered a R&D project, with EFLA's participation, aimed at developing a new tower made completely of aluminium for the 420kV transmission network.
