EXPORT AWARD OF THE PRESIDENT OF ICELAND
EFLA won the Icelandic President's Export Award in 2022, presented at a ceremony in Bessastaðir in June. EFLA has focused on international development by exporting ingenuity and knowledge for another decade.
EXCELLENT COMPANY
EFLA is on the list of Outstanding Companies 2022 according to Creditinfo's assessment for the 13th year in a row and is also one of 56 companies that have been on the list since the beginning.
IDEA COMPETITION FOR THE CROSSING OF THE REYKJANES ROUTE
EFLA won second prize in Kópavogsbær's open concept competition, in collaboration with Arkitektafélag Íslands, for the crossing of Reykjanesbrauta and the regional centre in Smára with its proposal Smárahvammur.
THE GREEN SHOES
EFLA´s staff participated in renovating the Brákarborg kindergarten, which won the Green Shovel 2022 award, awarded on Green Building Day in October. The part of the EFLA staff was to do an ecological analysis for the renovations and compare the carbon footprint of the upgrades with the corresponding new construction, to highlight the benefits of the renovations. In this project, EFLA calculated the carbon footprint of a renovation for the first time in Iceland.
BREEAM SUSTAINABILITY CERTIFICATION OF THE HOSPITAL
In April, a recognition plaque for BREEAM environmental certification was officially unveiled at the hospital hotel at Hringbraut. Helga J. Bjarnadóttir, department manager at EFLA and BREEAM assessor, led the work on the environmental certification on behalf of the so-called SPITAL group, which was responsible for the planning and pre-design of the hospital hotel.
FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT WITH CARBFIX
EFLA´s representatives signed a framework agreement with Carbfix, part of Orkuveita Reykjavíkur in February. Under the contract, EFLA will provide consultancy services, design and construction supervision of the Coda Terminal for Carbfix. These are interdisciplinary projects that have contact with most areas of EFLA, but the company is a leader in consulting when it comes to environmental and
climate issues.
ENHANCE THE PRINCIPAL OWNER OF HECLA SAS
EFLA became the primary owner of the French engineering company HECLA SAS after EFLA purchased Landsvirkjun's holdings through the subsidiary Landsvirkjun Power, and Jean Chauveau in the company was completed.
GRANTS FROM THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, ENERGY AND CLIMATE
Two innovative projects of EFLA and partners received funding from the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate for projects designed to promote the circular economy. On the one hand, it is the project Auðlindahringrás in operation, and on the other hand, Hringrásarveggur - material selection, material quality and design.
