The project's objective
The strategic noise mapping was carried out for the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration and various municipalities, with noise calculations for road traffic noise on the grounds of Regulation on Strategic Noise Mapping and Action Plans no. 1000/2005 and the Environmental Noise Directive 2002/49/EC. Industrial noise was also assessed.
The noise calculation program SoundPLAN was used to perform traffic and industrial noise calculations. Noise maps and reports were made to represent the situation. The noise level was calculated with the noise indicator Lden at a height of 4 m above ground.
Following the strategic noise mapping, action plans were adapted for each of the relevant municipalities.
