The project's objective

The route is popular recreational asset among the city's residents. The aim of the project was to improve the current path by widening it, altering its route in places, and segregate pedestrians and cyclists. The goal was to increase safety and further encourage its use.

The project also involved a proposal for a new bus route near the path for improved access to it.

The first part of the project was opened in May 2009 and it is now fully built.
