The project's objective

Each tapping crane is equipped with three electrical insulation layers, the layer monitoring is conducted using Bender isolation monitors. The weighing system is capable of measuring 0-20 tons with an accuracy of 50 kg, and it is also possible to provide Tare weight for each crucible and for tapping into the crucibles.

The cranes are equipped with a wireless access point, to enable the automatic tapping of molten aluminium to a predefined schedule, and tapping results are automatically transferred to the client's database.

An HMI is installed on each crane bridge for detailed alarming, simplified troubleshooting and maintenance. The SCADA system acts as an interface between the cranes and the Nordurál Database, enabling the monitoring of all functions and recording of tapping history as registered by the crane PLC.

The PLC is Allen Bradley ConrtolLogix, the HMI a PanelView Plus 1250 touch panel, and the SCADA software is Wonderware Intouch 9.0.
