EFLA wins a design competition in Norway
The Norwegian transmission system operator, Statnett, recently held a competition for new tower types for a 420 kV transmission line that crosses densely populated areas in Oslo and nearby communities. The new power line will replace an older 300 kV line and will be seen by a large number of people every day, thus making it important to blend well in with its environment.

The Straw - winning proposal
EFLA submitted three proposals for new high-voltage power pylons and won the top two places. The winning proposal is named the "Strå" (the Straw), while "Spire" was awarded second place. Engineers from EFLA in both Iceland and Norway prepared the new concepts in collaboration with Eva Widenoja, an industrial designer from Widenoja Design AS, Norway.
