EFLA and manuscript exhibition

On Saturday 28 March, an exhibition will be opened in the City History Museum called Settlement Stories - Inheritance in Words. For display at the exhibition are many centuries' old manuscripts that trace the history of the first settlers of Iceland. The manuscripts are borrowed from the Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies. These manuscripts are among the most valuable assets of the Icelandic nation and it is therefore critical that they be handled carefully.

EFLA Consulting Engineers was responsible for the safety design and risk analysis as well as the design and supervision of the implementation of security controls. This involved very specific analyses and designs aimed at ensuring the safety of the manuscripts in the best possible way. In addition, it was EFLA's task to create contingency plans and organize emergency management for possible events, in addition to teaching and training.

EFLA has taken care of the security design of all exhibitions of the manuscripts during the last decade, in Iceland and abroad, and the engineering firm possesses a unique experience and knowledge of the physical and technical aspects of safety design as well as of emergency management.
