About the project

This is the largest project that EFLA has undertaken for the Norwegian Road Administration to date. The new bridge will replace temporary bridges that have been standing for 25 years but no longer meet the needs of pedestrians and cyclists in the area.

The footprint of the new bridge is large, free width is 6 m between handrails and total length is over 400 m in 18 spans. The bridge cross section accommodates a walkway and two cycling lanes.

It is a congested construction site, and one of the most challenging aspects of the works will be realignment of electrical- and communication cables in the ground to clear up for the new bridge foundations.

Following a tender process The Norwegian Road Administration has contracted HAG Anlegg AS as the primary contractor for the project. It is anticipated that the new bridge will be opened in late 2019.
