ABB chooses EFLA

EFLA Consulting Engineers and ABB recently signed a contract on cooperation for the Þeistareykir Geothermal Power Plant project. EFLA will program, test and commission control system for steam field and auxiliary systems at Þeistareykir Geothermal Power Plant, the newest geothermal power plant, owned by Landsvirkjun, the National Power Company of Iceland.

ABB won the bidding process for the control systems for the power plant last spring. The control system that will be installed is of the type System 800xA and is widely used in power generation. EFLA's specialist both from the headquarters in Reykjavik and the Regional Office in Akureyri will work closely with ABB on the project, which has already started.

Completion of the first phase of the project is expected in October 2017.

Construction of the 2 x 45 MWe geothermal power plant at Þeistareykir has already begun where the powerhouse for two 45 MWe turbines as well as steam field for one 45 MWe turbine are under construction.
