20.12.2018 : Grand opening of a new footbridge in Bergen, Norway

Friday the 14th December saw the opening of a new bridge for pedestrians and cyclists at Nygårdstangen in the Norwegian city of Bergen. EFLA Consulting Engineers carried out the design of the bridge for the Norwegian Road Administration, in collaboration with Studio Granda Architects.

11.12.2018 : Design transmission line towers in Norway

A specially designed transmission line tower has been erected close to tourist destination Kjerag in Rogaland, Norway. EFLA in cooperation with industrial designer Eva Widenoja designed the towers that have attracted considerable attention.

7.12.2018 : EFLA wins Darc Awards for The Lava Tunnel

EFLA was awarded first prize in the prestigious international lighting design competition, The Darc Awards 2018, for Best Landscape Lighting Scheme at The Lava Tunnel. In total, 24 international projects, were nominated in the category. This is EFLA's second Darc Awards.

29.11.2018 : Flagship Norwegian bridge project progressing

The last weekend in October saw the successful erection of the steel structure for the main span of the new bridge at the Ullevaal Stadium junction in Oslo, Norway. The bridge is for pedestrians and cyclists and its engineering design is done by EFLA Consulting Engineers. The mounting of the main span is a key mission in the bridge construction project, which is gaining international interest.

EFLA has been granted an award for outstanding performance in social responsibility. Furthermore EFLA was also ranked among the top 0.25% of the strongest companies in Iceland for financial strength and stability, for the eight year in a row.

1.11.2018 : EFLA shortlisted for Darc Awards 2018

EFLA has been shortlisted for Best Landscape Lighting Scheme for the lighting design in The Lava Tunnel in Iceland. The Darc Awards are a peer-to-peer lighting design awards allowing ligthing designers to vote for their favourite projects of the year.  We are very proud of this achievement and look forward to the results which will be announced in December. EFLA and collaborators in hydropower consultancy participated at the annual Hydropower & Dams conference that took place in Gdansk, Poland, last week. The purpose was to elucidate the Icelandic expertise in planning and designing hydropower plants worldwide.

5.10.2018 : Developing the Norwegian transmission system in a sustainable way

The owner and operator of the Norwegian transmission system, Statnett, has developed prototypes of new transmission towers. In order to assess the environmental impact of the towers, Statnett asked EFLA to calculate the ecological and carbon footprint from a life cycle perspective.

13.9.2018 : International conference about steel bridges

An international conference, the 9th International Symposium on steel bridges, was held in Prague last week. Andri Gunnarsson, construction engineer at EFLA, presented a lecture covering the design process of the new pedestrian bridge, Ullevaalskrysset, in Oslo. EFLA has carried out the conceptual and the detail design of the bridge which is under construction at the moment.

4.9.2018 : A safe first day of school thanks to a new pedestrian bridge

The pupils of Bryn Primary School in the eastern part of Oslo can now finally safely cross the heavily trafficked E6 on their way to school using a new pedestrian bridge. EFLA did the engineering and planning of the building phase of the bridge project, which was completed in record time.

20.8.2018 : Utilizing low-geothermal heat with latest technology

At Flúðir, small community in southern Iceland, a new low temperature geothermal plant is rising. The power plant uses new operating system for the utilization of geothermal heat to produce electricity. EFLA is the main consultant in the project and is responsible for designing the piping system, and all subjects related to the geothermal aspect.

A new cycle and footbridge over Breiðholtsbraut highway, in Reykjavík, is underway. Recently, the bridge´s superstructure was cast that completed the first phase of construction.

11.5.2018 : New bridge lifted into place

A new steel bridge, a 72 m long cycle- and footbridge weighing 155 tons was lifted into place at Nygårdstangen in Bergen on the 3rd of May subsequent to being shipped from Poland where it was assembled.

25.4.2018 : Þeistareykjavirkjun - geothermal power plant starts operation

Landsvirkjun has finished the construction of a 90 MWe geothermal power plant at Þeistareykir in the north-eastern part of Iceland. EFLA Consulting Engineers were responsible for the supervision of the construction of the powerhouse, all steel structures and electrical installations.

24.4.2018 : EFLA at Iceland Geothermal Conference 2018

EFLA is at IGC

The 4th international Iceland Geothermal Conference takes place in Iceland on the 24th – 26th of April. The conference is held by the Icelandic Geothermal Cluster that EFLA Consulting Engineers is a part of. It's intention is to be a platform for the geothermal industry and project developers to gather and share views on how to improve the business environment for geothermal projects.

BNAM, Baltic Nordic Acoustics Meeting, is an acoustics conference that will take place from 15th to 18th. of April in Harpa, Reykjavík. The conference program consists of key-note lectures, invited and contributed papers in structured parallel sessions, and exhibition. EFLA is among exhibitors and will carry out a lecture.
