The Reykjavík City Council recently decided to allocate a lot to the University of Iceland at Sæmundargata 15-19 for its Science Park. The international pharmaceutical company Alvogen plans to use the lot to construct a building of eleven thousand square meters, a high-tech center which will be operated as part of the Science Park of the University of Iceland.

EFLA Consulting Engineers has been involved in the project in various ways. Among other things, EFLA carried out the EIA of the project, its electrical, fire and security design, load bearing design and sound design. The Project Management Division of EFLA takes care of general consulting, the project management and the preparation of schedules and cost estimates.

Lagnatækni does all the piping design. The building's architects are PK Architects. Numerous experts of Alvogen are involved in the project, as a highly specialized activity is involved.

Alvogen intends to start construction of the building before the end of year and to finish it within two years. The High Tech Center of Alvogen is expected to host the development and production of generic versions of biotechnology drugs that are already on the market and to market them when their patents expire.

The building will also host the international offices of Alvogen.
